About Us

About the Eugenia Williams House

Eugenia Williams intended her home to be more than a personal residence. Her vision for the property as a legacy gift reflects her desire to create something lasting and meaningful for the community. Carefully restored under the stewardship of the Aslan Foundation, the house carries Eugenia’s imprint and tells the stories of an earlier era, a city’s evolving identity, and the architectural and cultural aspirations of the 20th century.

Mission Statement:

The Aslan Foundation purchased the Eugenia Williams House in 2020 to ensure this regional and national treasure was preserved and used for public benefit. Our mission is to protect this historic property and ensure that it remains a cultural and historic resource for the people of Knoxville.

About the Aslan Foundation:

Established by Lindsay Young in 1994, the Aslan Foundation embraces the mission of preserving beauty, advancing livability, and supporting cultural assets in Knoxville, Tennessee. These were interests that Lindsay shared with his twin brother Robert and with Robert’s wife Rachael, both of whom helped guide the Foundation for its initial decade.

The Foundation’s Board of Directors is currently composed of Robert Young, Lindsay McDonough, and Mark Williams. They are committed to strengthening the Knoxville community through grantmaking, foundation projects, and public-private partnerships. Its funding priorities include arts and culture, historic preservation, animal welfare, land conservation, and outdoor recreation.

The Aslan Foundation is committed to historic preservation in Knoxville and has demonstrated its commitment through the creation and operation of various projects, including Loghaven Artist Residency, High Ground Park, and the Candoro Marble Building.
